Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib has become a nodal centre in robotics for the region. This is a part of the vision 2010 of the institute, a time by which the institute will set up many Centers of Interest Excellence (C.I.E.). The institute is spearheading towards excellence in academics. Informing the media persons Dr. M.S. Grewal, the principal informed that the institute had signed an M.O.U. with The Robotics Institute (T.R.I.) about a month back. This is only the beginning. The institute has set up multimedia class rooms and state of art lab in robotics. Dr. Grewal mentioned that Energy virtual Instrumentation, D.S.P. and Computer Animation were the other areas in which the college is setting up the CIEs.

Today under the program, B.B.S.B. Engg. College organized eTRIx Workshop conducted by The Robotics Institute (T.R.I.) Technosolutions (an I.I.T. Bombay alumnus). The workshop aims at providing the basic knowledge in the construction, designing and working of the robots.

The workshop started with the inauguration ceremony in the presence of Dr. Manjit Singh Grewal (Principal) B.B.S.B. Engg. College, Mr. Sandeep Gill and Mr. Vimal (both from I.I.T. Bombay), Mr. B.S. Bhullar (Head, Training & Placement Cell) and Mr. Supreet Singh (Workshop Coordinator).

There was an overwhelming response from the students. A total of 55 teams (each of four students) from B.B.S.B.E.C., Chitkara and Lucknow (U.P.) are participating in the workshop.

This was a very good initiative taken by the college to provide the students with latest technology and training in the field of Robotics.
