Invitation for participation in AICTE Sponsored Staff Development Programme on "Lean Manufacturing: Today and Tomorrow" during December 8-19, 2008.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab is a premier technical institution established by SGPC in 1993, with the purpose of providing quality technical education to rural youth of Punjab. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is ISO 9001:2000 certified and accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for five years. The objective of the department is to inculcate the sound theoretical background of the field alongwith providing knowledge update of the recent developments in technological system to meet the evolving needs of budding technocrats. The department aims at establishing strong relationship with the industry so as to bridge the gap between the academia and corporate sector. A number of Short Term Courses, Seminars and Conferences at national and international level have been conducted by the Department. For providing consultancy and testing services to industry, the workshop and laboratories are fully equipped with latest and sophisticated equipments and machinery.

The Department is organizing an AICTE sponsored Staff Development Programme on "LEAN MANUFACTURING: TODAY AND TOMORROW" during December 8-19, 2008. The objective of this course is to create an understanding about the lean manufacturing concepts, lean terminology, eliminate waste with lean, components and value stream analysis and lean thinking and challenges. The critical focus will be made on the lean practices and implementing change in lean for achieving manufacturing excellence. The concept of lean designing in product development will also be explored.
